About the services

Made for everyone. Yes, you too.

Services at Chabad of Shelton are built so that everyone feels at home — whether this is your fiftieth Rosh Hashanah in shul or your very first. Here is what to expect when you walk in.

Hebrew, English and transliteration
Our prayer books carry all three, and page numbers are announced continuously throughout, so everyone knows where we are holding and can pray in the language they are most comfortable with.
Never long and boring
The meaning and background of many of the prayers are presented as we go, with famous Jewish melodies, stories and anecdotes woven in — interactive, entertaining and educational.
Whatever your background
Reform, Conservative, Orthodox or unaffiliated — the services are set up so that everyone can participate and enjoy. The environment is warm, friendly and non-judgmental.
Everything is provided
No need to bring a head covering, tallit or prayer book — we provide all of it. Bring your own if you prefer, of course.

Not a holding pen while the parents pray — a service of their own, and parents are welcome to join. Traditional melodies, the reasoning behind the customs, a hands-on activity and snacks.

As a courtesy to Chabad, the Courtyard by Marriott offers a special rate of $119 per night for 2 Queens or 1 King, with 1:00 PM checkout included and luggage space in the lobby afterwards. Rooms at that rate are limited — or ask Rabbi Shneur or Leah.
